Hi, I’m Jen
I am a little bit of beauty, beast, and attitude rolled into one badass woman. I believe every girl and woman is capable of more than sometimes they see and I am here to push, guide, and lend a hand to reaching things they may have not thought possible. I believe everyone has a little beast inside them… my job is to help you realize that too.
I’ve never been much of a “fancy” type of person, but more of a “love of all things badass and rugged” type of person. I am not for everyone and that is what I love, I believe everyone must find what fits them and the people who can steer them towards their goals.
I grew up an overweight child and teen. My mother and gram loved to bake, and I had (and still do) a big sweet tooth. I always as a child worked out at the YMCA with my mom when she would go (back then 12-year-olds could have gym memberships), and I loved to work out and play sports, but I just never focused on healthy eating.
I went off to college to study fashion design, merchandising, and marketing, and I struggled to be in a big city away from home. Back then you needed a credit card to obtain a gym membership at all the big clubs, which as an 18 yr old, I didn’t have… so I made it work on my own. I started teaching myself to learn to run to pass the time, and I would run everywhere.
After working in the fashion industry and seeing so many fad diets, unhealthy people, and the use of many stimulants I decided to join a gym. I always loved the YMCA Halifax and quickly feel in love with working out. With the help of an amazing trainer there I started to realize I needed to learn more.
I like to study, learn, and dive deep into things. Shortly after, for fun (my version of fun!) and with the need to try and learn how to become healthier and more efficient at the gym, I started looking into courses and eventually took the Personal Trainer course through CanFitPro. After a couple of years at my job in the fashion industry, I was laid off, which looking back was a blessing in disguise. After so much needed coaxing and some great people helping me along my journey, I became a full-time trainer.
Now, I could not love my career more and I have been very lucky for the opportunities and people I have met.

Throughout my life, my determination, spirit, and fire came from a mixture of these two women. These women helped make me who I am.
These are two videos; one of my Mom, and one of my Gram; both still punching before they passed.
My Mom
While battling the hardest fight of all cancer, there was still a little energy left for some fun. On May 19th, 2019 my mother lost her fight to breast cancer. After an 18 year battle, her last round was over BUT as you can see, on her final months she still had strength, determination, and true grit! A warrior to look up to and another reason I am the badass woman I am today.
My Gram
While in the nursing home suffering from dementia she never lost her spark or love of life. Gram made the best of any situation and her love for laughing kept her going. She was funny, quick-witted, and had a spirit like no other. She may have left on September 8th, 2019 but I am thankful she left me with a few of her qualities. There is nothing quite like the bond between grandmother and granddaughter!
